Early stage thoughts and brainstorming.
During a four weeks project at an agency based in Berlin we redesigned a electro wholesale web shop. The client wanted a new modern look but most important
he wanted us to create a shopping experience for the user. And here comes the challenge: We had to create a shopping experience from cables ties to smoke detectors.
Understanding the navigation structure and simplifying.
The main challenge of this project was the huge amount of products the client is selling. In addition we had a target audience that were used to shop there products by listing everything on an excel sheet and fax it to our client.
During the project we had to create a new process for the presentation of each product and creating a navigation structure that would guide them intuitively.
In addition to our lack of experience with a shopping process that was till now preferred not to be done through a web shop , we had to assume that our user is even less likely to know how to interact with this new shopping experience. Because of this, our idea needed to be clear and make sense to all users.
After identifying our target group we created personas. We had to be aware of a variety of users as not only the buyer was our target group we also had to convince the sellers on the platform with our new concept. Keeping in mind to create solutions that would fit each.
After establishing the personas we sketched out a flow of a shopping progress. Together with UI and the Developers we thought about variables and possibilities of the process. From choosing a product until adding it to the shopping cart.
We created UX theses for the new web shop to improve the shopping experience for every user.
